I was the only "Alissa" I ever knew when I was a kid. I loved my unique name, except that no one ever knows how to spell it or pronounce it. I got "Melissa" or "Alisha" a lot. It'seems to have gotten more popular in recent years though, so maybe people will start getting it right.
