I have not met any other Kara's. No one has ever'spelled my name wrong, but I get mistaken for Sara, Karen, and Carol sometimes.

I love having this name. It's pretty but serious-sounding. Sometimes people think I'm saying "Karen" and sometimes I get It'spelled with a C but It's not like It's a complicated fix. I have met MAYBE four other Karas in my lifetime. It comes from Katherine, means "friend" and "dear" and lots of nice things, though i've just found out It's slang for penis in Serbian. Still I think in our part of the world, It's got a sophisticated edge over names like Kathy and Kayley.

I'm from the UK and Kara is always pronounced Kar-a (not Kare-a) when I'met people from the USA they ALWAYS get my name wrong. It'sounds pretty cool as Kar-a but really stupid the other way! & hey It's not with a C either!

In the UK Kara is always pronounced "Kar-uh" and it is a beautiful name! Maybe in the US you say it in a different way but don't assume your way is right & ours is wrong!

I named my daughter Kara but we pronounce it Kar-ah and most people say it Kare-ah and she gets upset, lol. We have had people mess it up as Karla.

My name is not Kara, but my daughter, born four months ago, is. it is pronounced care-uh, but nobody has mispronounce it yet. hey, I'm Kara, and I too get Car-ah a lot. It's like, "Cara is with a C, Car-a, get it right!" Teache's who have known me all year still call me Cara and don't even realize it when'they read my name off of a list. I stopped correcting them though, because either they do know my name is Kare-a, or I'll never'see them again and I don't care. The only nickname anyone has ever come up with is Karebear for me, although I saw one of the earlier posts had caribou, that's clever.

We live in Australia and the name Hank is extremely uncommon here. We had a baby on May 15 and called him HANK. We love it too! As one other user commented It's cute for a little kid but a nice strong name for a young man.
