I was named for my father, Karl, and never really appreciated my name until I became an adult. (Most of the girls of my childhood were names such as Debbie, Susie, Kathy, Linda, and Wendy.) Most people do spell it with a "C," but I prefer the "K," since my father's family is of German ancestry. I never had a nickname but have lately considered "Karly," although i've been'told I don't look anything like a Karly!
People always want to spell my name with a C therefore my whole life I have introduced myself as Karla with a "K". I don't know why but when'they spell my name with a C the hair on my back stands straight up and it irritates me.
The name Katia is great! I have had people who say they love it. I like it because not many people have this name and it makes me feel unique. I think this name is beautiful. I have had probably a million people misprounce it or spell it wrong. It's funny anytime someone knows a Katia and i tell them my name they say something about. Karla is an alright name. It's my name, anyways. To me, having "K" instead of "C" seems much more beautiful! =)
