Alden meaning

We named our son Aron, no double a or r. We like it that way.

Our son is called Alden - It'should be pronounced Allden, or Awlden. Some people say the Al short, as in aligator, but this is incorrect. We are BrIt'sh, and Alden is a very uncommon name here, but people often say Olden in'tead which is very annoying!

i've had the name Alden for around 15 years--It's n't my original name. I never met anyone with that name, but I did once meet someone who had met someone named Alden. I like the'sound and the meaning, which i've always seen as some variation of "wise friend" or "old friend" or "old, wise protector" which would be from Old English. But I recently saw a reference that'said It's from the English surname Haldane and means "half Dane."
