my name is kirstie (kur-stee)and im 19. its very unique and i love it but i do get called kristy and kristen alot.
I'm Kirsty and on the phone when I say my name people say 'ok then Cathy' I'm like grr. Americans assume I'm Kristy and I always say, no, Kirsty like Kirsty McColl or Kirstie Allie! lol It's a great name, has scottish gaelic connections :)
Curse with a T at the end.. its sounds like thirsty with a K.. yes 98% of people say it incorrectly. My parents even spelled it wrong on my birht certificate .. They wanted it to be Kirstie but instead spelled it with a Y... Told me for 16 years it was with an IE... I went to get my drivers lisence saw my birth certificate and was shocked! Had to relearn to sign my name with a Y.. Please do not name your child Kirsty.. It will follow them there whole lives.
I'm Kirsty with a Y and all my life i've been called Kristy. People have spelt my name wrong on certificates, trophies and official documentation even when I have provided the correct spelling neatly in block letters. What is even more insulting is when colleagues who have worked with me for months or years accidentally start calling me Kristy and it feels awkward to correct them. My mother, who was torn between naming me Kirsty or Kirrily, says in retrospect she'should have chosen Kirrily. I would advise anyone considering the name Kirsty to spell it Kersty or Kirsten so that their child does not endure years of having to correct people or being called the wrong name! :)
Kirsty is a beautiful name I also like Kirstie. and Kerstie.
My name is Kirsty with a 'Y' and I love my name to pieces. I am 13 and I stay in Scotland and I know a few people with my name. I personally don't like my name'spelt any other way than with a 'Y'. The only thing that annoys me is when people pronounce my name "Kur-stey" or "Kri-stey" or any other way because It'should be pronounced "Kir-stey" like how It's spelt. ;)
I love my name. I always get called kristy after 28yrs i just let it go. People often spell it wrong. I spell it KIRSTY. But i love it and it never'sounds old.
It was hard having this name growing up as no one had EVER heard of it (born 1975). And, even on this site, my real name KIRSTI Isn't listed. :( The one time I'met someone named Kirsti I kept calling her Kristi! It really helped me understand how hard it is to call someone by a name that is unusual.
My name is Kirstie but people always say kristy Kirsten Kristen krista, anything but my actual name. I live in Canada, my mum is of Scottish ancestors so that's where it came from. I have only ever met one person with the'same name and have a survey from when I was born that'says there were only 8 Kirstie's in BrIt'sh Columbia that year.
kirsty is much better with a "y" to be honest i dont mind the "ie" but i really dont like the "i"
I like my name.... Kirsty But as I'm Scottish... Nobody ever'says my name right. Everyone pronounces it like Kursty It's horrible And even when I say it nicely nobody understands me. It's a difficult name to live with.
I have never met anyone with my name. The pronounciation is (keer'stee) but people often mistake it for (ker'stee). nobody ever'spells it right the first time. but i like the name because its UNIQUE.
My name is Kirstie (Kir-Stee), I'm 17, and I love my name. It's unique without being completely out of the ordinary. It gets mispronounced a lot, though.
my name is Kursite i couldn't find the right spelling but close enough. i love my name and there are so few people with It'so its different. people do pernounce it wrong alot kristen kristy (i get a LOT!)etc. but people cant easaly make fun of your name! (thumbs up!):D
My name is Kirsty (with a 'y') and when I was in primary school (in the 90's), one of my best friends always ended up saying my name wrong and it really irritated me. But I haven't had any troubles ever'since, and I really like my name although not many people spell it the way I do. - Kirsty, England.
Good to know there are other Kirstie's out there who have to explained its not kristie haha , Rock on all the Kirstie's out there we are totally awesome n!
I do like my name but like it better on someone else.
My name is kirstey (pronounced kur-stee) but unlike other ways of spelling it mine ends in an "ey" not just a "y" or "ie" i've never met any one with the'same name as me! I'm Canadian but my parents are from Scotland. I love my name but sometimes its difficult when I can never find anything with my name on it!!! Also its super annoying when people call me Kristy.
I really do love my name, Kirsty. I'm Canadian with English parents and no one here ever pronounces my name correctly, its ALWAYS Kristy!! Sometimes I get so tired of correcting people that I just go with it❤️I swear the whole world is dyslexic.
My name is Kirsty with a 'Y'. If people who are hard of hearing ask my name they often'think i say 'cathy' I'm like nah!! I don't know anyone else with the'same name really, not in my friends circle. I'd not like to have a really common name. i 'm from England. :)
my name is kirsty, i havent had much problem with it, my uncle calls me kirtsy and im commontly known recently as krusty *fun* but i like it because i have a nickname completely different because it relates to something else, so when i get called kirsty i sometimes don't respond.
I love my name. people always say that it is very unique. however, 98% of the time people will say "Kristy" Very very annoying! I always say Kirsty like thirsty with a K.
Well, my brother wanted to name his daughter Cali, but wanted a unique spelling for it. So, I came up with Kaleigh ('Kal' rhymes with 'Pal')---so I thought that it was okay to spell it this way. She is constantly being called KAY-LEE though. But I don't think there is just ONE WAY to pronounce KALEIGH. I feel sort of bad now that'she has to go through life constantly correcting people on how to pronounce her name...AND She's ONLY 4!!!
My names kirsty, but i got bored with it, so for the past year i've been '' kirsti '' Much prefered xD
MY REAL NAME ISNT LISTED EITHER "KIRSTI" SOME PEOPLE ARE SIMPLY RETARDED AND can't SEE THAT CLEARLY THE I IS BEFORE THE R SO ITS KIR STEE NOT KRIS TEE UGHHH
Well I really like this name except my worst enemy is called Audrey so It's ok.
I live in England and I can't say that i've ever had any problems with people mispronouncing my name. Although the name Kristy is not really heard of here, so perhaps that is why. Oh and have a spoken'to a Scottish person who pronounced it Krusteeee. He may have been'taking the mick
Was the 14th most popular name for baby girls at its peak in 1900 in the United States, but was virtually unknown prior to 1880 when it began coming in for the first time. Today, however, it is a name associated with old ladies, having declined from the end of the 1920s. Yet It's hard to beli've that in a century's time names from the Kimberly/Jennifer/Michelle era will be classed as "old lady" names.
Im 17 and my names is Kirsty. Im from Wales and I find that the name Isn't really common and im the only one in my year with this name. In my school the name'seems to be slowly disappearing and year after year there seems to be less "Kirsty's". I love my name as I find it unique and I dont agree with people that beli've that the name is old fashioned. KIRSTY ROCKS!!
My name is Kirsty and I am from New Zealand. I lived the US for 2 years and everyone I come across had difficulty with my name. This is not a problem in NZ, as it is quite common.
We named our daughter Kirstyn, I pronounce it K-ear-sten, but my husband and i debate over that he calls her K- er'stin. love that i founbd this so i can show him the norm is my way! :0)
