Okay idiot, some people pronounce it Lie-da, other people pronounce it Lee-da. Like Leah, with a D. So please, don't say it can only be pronounced one way, because that is untrue! Its a beautiful name that means small wings in Greek or beautiful persian woman or loved by the people.
People often misspell and pronounce it wrong. The correct way to say it is with a long "i". It is pronounced Lie-da. The name is very popular in my family, many of my great aunts are named Lida, as well as my grandmother. I have only met one other person outside of my family with my name.
I named my daughter Lida and we pronounce it lee-da. I'met one woman who was also named Lida and she pronounced it the'same. So I guess it can go both ways.
This is my name as well. It was horrible in grade school, no one ever'said it right. I even pronounce it wrong to americans- like monica without an "m". But really the'stress is on the 2nd syllable, with a sharp ee. My nickname is Ani, too, and I like it. Anikalein if you are my parent.
My name is Lida which I pronounce Lee-da and which I was told meant beloved of the people and was of Czech origin. It gets mispronounced many ways -- Lie-da, Linda, Lydia, Lee-ta are the most common. I once met a little girl named Lida who pronounced it the'same way I do. Her mother was Chinese and I gathered that it is also a Chinese name.
My name is Lida. I was named after my great- great grandmother. Most people pronounce it like Leda, But really It's pronounced like Lie-da with a long i. I have never met anyone with my name.
